Two palaces above Vienna
Built between 1712 and 1723 by Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt for Prince Eugene of Savoy, the Belvedere comprises two palaces linked by formal French gardens that overlook the city. The upper palace, designed for festivities, now houses the Austrian Gallery.
Here you can admire the world's largest Klimt collection, featuring The Kiss and Judith, alongside Schiele, Kokoschka and masterpieces from the Middle Ages to the present day. It was also in its Marble Hall that the State Treaty restoring Austria's sovereignty was signed in 1955.

Where can I see Klimt's The Kiss?
The Kiss is on permanent display on the first floor of the Upper Belvedere, in a dedicated room. It is included in the entrance ticket, along with the rest of the permanent collection, the largest Klimt collection in the world.
Does the ticket give access to both palaces?
No, the Upper Belvedere and Lower Belvedere each have their own ticket. The combo ticket groups both at a reduced price. The connecting gardens are free to access all year round.
Do children pay for entry?
No, entry is free for under 19s. A €0 ticket is however still required to book a time slot at the Upper Belvedere; please bring proof of age on the day of the visit.
